4th Annual Black History Month Classic

A fundamental component of Harlem Lacrosse programming is to continually celebrate the cultural heritage and experiences of our participants and their families. On February 22nd students came together to celebrate Black History Month with a “sixes” tournament between Boston’s middle school programs. The session kicked off with a panel led by our black program directors and coaches, transitioned to a series of games refereed and coached by our current high school boys and girls, and ended with awards that recognized those with the greatest hustle.

Building on the classroom-based conversations held throughout the month surrounding the importance of Historically Black Colleges and Universities, each team chose to represent a different HBCU in the tournament: Deleware State, Virginia State, Morgan State, Hampton University, and Howard University.
