Breaking LAX Barriers Through Partnership

“Loyola HS is one of our Harlem Kids’ favorite clinics to partake in every year! There is never a shortage of fun when it comes to the practice plan they provide for our team, and the BBQ at the end is always a cherry on top. We look forward to it all, every year!”-Coach Rudy, Davis MS

Harlem Lacrosse Los Angeles participants enjoyed a rigorous day of skill development, food, and fun at the annual skills clinic hosted by local partner Loyola High School. Spectators witnessed pure glee as our middle schoolers, representing the City of Compton, enjoyed the opportunity to learn new skills, drills, and practice against Loyola High School players.

Power of Partnerships

In Los Angeles, a student’s access to high-quality athletic and extracurricular activities is almost exclusively dictated by zip code. While lacrosse is the fastest growing sport in America, its growth has barely penetrated the invisible boundaries between affluent, mostly white suburbs and low-income, urban neighborhoods. Harlem Lacrosse seeks to leverage partnerships within the lacrosse community to increase access, opportunity, and diversity to the sport of lacrosse. Local partnerships such as that of Loyola High School is not only essential to the success of our programs, but represents our best work as a community.
