Harlem Lacrosse in the Workforce

Strong economies hinge upon youth having the skills they need to secure a meaningful and well-paid career.

Barriers such as racial–ethnic and gender discrimination, the higher incidence of violence in many urban communities, poverty, and lack of accessible jobs complicate the transition of many of our youth into the workforce. Harlem Lacrosse utilizes our summer programming to level the playing field for Harlem Lacrosse students.

Harlem Lacrosse has developed an integrated youth employment college and career pathway system that we are proud to share. Our Summer Pathing experience gives HL youth the opportunity to earn income while engaging in invaluable educational programming and work, setting the foundation for future employment and academic success.

The opportunity to work improves economic equity, teaches our students about meeting employers’ expectations, prevents summer learning loss and helps them gain valuable skills and experiences.

"I’m excited to begin this new journey working as a human capital management intern at Sixth Street. I can’t wait to learn and develop not only as a student but also as a professional!!" -Penda Sarr, 2022 Sixth Street Intern

Summer Pathing Outcomes:

  • Harlem Lacrosse youth will be more inspired for success in college, career and life.

  • Our participants will have an increased self-esteem, self-efficacy and improved academic motivation.
