The Brendan quinn Memorial Fund

The Brendan Quinn Memorial Fund was established to honor the life and legacy of Brendan Quinn, father of HLNY Associate board member and long-time volunteer Ryan Quinn.

Brendan Quinn was a New York native who found his pathway to college through the sport of lacrosse, starting at Army- West Point and finishing his career at CW Post on Long island.

After graduating, Brendan maintained his love and passion for lacrosse and found opportunities to grow the game whenever and wherever he could. Brendan helped establish and coach the first lacrosse team from New York City to play in the annual Empire State Games, a prestigious lacrosse tournament in New York that served as a primary recruiting showcase for high school players.

He actively recruited players from Harlem and the Bronx for the team. He was passionate about diversifying the game and providing equal opportunities to college access for students from all backgrounds and non-traditional lacrosse areas.

The Brendan Quinn Memorial Fund aims to provide new resources and opportunities to Harlem Lacrosse student-athletes who dream of playing lacrosse in college. Brendan himself was a late bloomer in the sport, and did not secure his opportunity to play lacrosse in college until late in his senior year.

Through the Brendan Quinn Memorial fund, we hope to make college lacrosse a possibility for any HL high school students, regardless of their level of experience or current academic profile.
