HL-Boston players named All-Stars of Winter League

This winter, Harlem Lacrosse - Boston entered two middle school teams and one high school team into the Homegrown Lacrosse winter league in Topsfield, MA. The teams were composed of student-athletes from Harlem Lacrosse school-based programs and community-based programs (formerly MetroLacrosse).

Student-athletes demonstrated commitment as they played in weekend games throughout the winter and used the competition to take their game to the next level individually and as a team. Harlem Lacrosse coaches noticed improvement in players’ stick skills and in-game decision making. Each team also improved in transitions, scoring at a higher rate and forcing more turnovers on rides. Competing against top talent in the Boston area prepared the teams for a strong spring season and gave students from various schools the chance to play together and bond as kids and athletes.

At the end of the season, three Harlem Lacrosse players were named to the HGR All-Star team. The three players, John, Ralph, and Tiago are strong leaders on the lacrosse team and are also top students at their respective schools. John and Tiago play on the community-based team in Dorchester and Ralph is a member of the school-based program at Young Achievers School in Mattapan. Each of the players has been playing lacrosse for the last three years, attending year-round practices, clinics, games, and playing on the Summer Club Team. Their chemistry on the field continued during the All-Star game as the trio scored 16 of their team's 19 goals to help win the game.

John, Ralph, and Tiago, are examples of the amazing students that we have the privilege of working with. Our students show up every day ready to grow as young people, students, and lacrosse players, and Harlem Lacrosse is fortunate to be part of their lives.
