Volunteer Spotlight: Sarah

"Volunteering with HL has been my favorite part about living in NYC because I love spending time with the girls and helping them grow as both students and athletes in any way that I can. Lacrosse reinforces such great character qualities, so when you combine the sport with the academic emphasis like Harlem Lacrosse does, you get such an impactful program. It's so rewarding to watch these girls transform into young leaders and develop that sense of responsibility to be the best version of themselves. My favorite part of practice is when we do "shout outs" at the end because it's great to hear the girls lift each other up and recognize that they're a stronger team when they support each other, which is what lacrosse is all about."

Sarah is a Davidson Lacrosse alum and volunteers as a tutor and a coach every Tuesday, Thursday, and on weekends for the Harlem Lacrosse - PS 76 Girls! To find out how you can get involved, visit our website http://www.harlemlacrosse.org/volunteer/
