Harlem Lacrosse Travels to Amherst
In April, over 20 boys from PS 149 and PS 76 traveled to Amherst, MA to spend time at Amherst College, and at homestays with families from Amherst Regional Middle School (ARMS).
Throughout their two days in Amherst, the Harlem Lacrosse boys spoke with lacrosse coaches, professors, and students from the Amherst Student-Athletes of Color Council group about what it takes to be a successful college student. They also watched Amherst practice, participated in a clinic led by the team and took the field at halftime during the Colby-Amherst game.
The boys also made plently of new friends and reconnected with old ones, interacting with ARMS students and families throughout their homestay and then going to visit their friends in Lincoln-Sudbury (MA) as well.
The boys had an amazing trip and special thanks go to Amherst College, Amherst College Lacrosse and Coach Jon Thompson, Amherst LEADS, Alvaro Borrell and Amherst Regional Middle School, Lincoln-Sudbury Lacrosse, and Lax Sports Network. We hope to make this trip an annual tradition.
