PA II Boys travel to Cornell University!!
It's #togetherTuesday once again at Harlem Lacrosse, when we highlight one of our fantastic partners for presenting incredible opportunities to deserving HL student-athletes!!
This week, we're flashing back to April when 19 scholars from the Promise Academy 2 MS Boys Lacrosse team made the trip to upstate New York to visit Cornell University!!
The trip started with a drive up to Skaneateles High School for the afternoon, when members of the Skaneateles community welcomed the team to upstate NY and provided an amazing dinner for the boys! Despite the rain everyone had a great time playing out on the field and shooting some hoops before heading to Johnny Angel's for dinner. After dinner, HLers said their good byes and headed to the Hotel for the night.
The next morning the team traveled straight to Cornell University's campus, where they were met by Glenn Altschuler, Dean of the School of Continuing Education and an American Writer. He gave the boys an amazing tour of campus and insight on what makes Cornell...well Cornell!!
From there, HLers headed to the Cornell Men's Lacrosse locker room, for pizza and a chance to meet with Head Men's Lacrosse Coach Peter Milliman! After lunch, Coach Milliman spoke to the boys about the "Hard Hat" culture at Cornell, inspired by the late and great George Boiardi, and the pillars the Big Red live by to be successful as a team. After the talk, the scholars met and practiced with members of the varsity lacrosse team, followed by a tour of the athletic facilities and their locker room! After the tour, everyone said their farewell's and got back on the bus for the long trip ride back to New York.
A huge shoutout to Coach Milliman and the members of the Cornell Varsity Lacrosse team for hosting the PA II Boys! Also a big thank you to Jerry and Kathleen Morrissey and the Skaneateles community for hosting our team for the evening and providing dinner!! We can't wait to return!!
