CarGurus Welcomes HL-Boston for Career Exploration Trip

Last Wednesday, HLers from TechBoston and Young Achievers traveled up to Cambridge for an exclusive inside look at CarGurus, one of the most successful tech startups in Boston. Upon arriving, HLers were greeted by Chief Guru Langley Steinert, who also co-founded TripAdvisor in 2000, and were treated to a catered lunch.

After fueling up, the students heard from Langley, Chief Revenue Officer Sam Zales, and Sales Rep JR about CarGurus' mission, what it's like to work there, and how aspects of every school subject are used by their employees on a daily basis, from communication and writing skills in marketing to algorithm-heavy math techniques. The students asked one thought-provoking question after another and gained valuable insight about what it takes to work in the professional world.

To end the day on a jaw-dropping note, the CarGurus team let the students spend time in their game room, complete with ping pong table, shuffleboard, foosball, drones, and an Xbox. On the journey home, the students could not stop talking about wanting to work at CarGurus when they get older.

A huge thank you goes out to Langley, Sam, JR, Jess, and the entire CarGurus crew for providing an amazing career exploration day for our students and for teaching them that every subject in school is important!
