One Nation Weekend: FDA Boys and Girls and P.S. 149 Girls visit Concord

Last weekend, families from Concord, MA hosted 60 FDA boys and FDA and P.S. 149 girls for a weekend of enrichment, lacrosse, and fun. On Saturday, both groups of Harlem Lacrosse student-athletes participated in community service at Old Manse, a historic property in Concord. They also visited the Robbins house, the home of the first generation of free African-Americans in Concord. There were plenty of photo ops at the monument marking “The Shot Heard Round the World.”

The FDA boys participated in a clinic with the P.S. 149 boys and lacrosse players from Concord-Carlisle and Sudbury youth lacrosse organizations at the Fenn School on Saturday afternoon. The girl groups were treated to a special clinic with the Tufts women’s lacrosse team before the enrichment activities for the day. Both programs participated in the One Nation lacrosse tournament all day Sunday where they met new teammates, scored lots of assisted goals, and were well-represented at the presentation of the One Nation awards for teamwork and sportsmanship!

Thank you to all of our generous host families for providing an incredible experience to our student-athletes and to Charles and Pamela Gildehaus for coordinating logistics for both programs. It was the weekend of a lifetime!
