Executive Board Additions

Harlem Lacrosse is proud to announce the addition Carlos Beason, Ronda Clarke-Richardson, and DeMaurice Smith to our Executive Board. Carlos, Ronda and DeMaurice have each been key members of the Harlem Lacrosse community for many years and we are thrilled to now benefit from their leadership as members of our Executive Board.

Carlos Beason - Harlem Lacosse Alumnus, William Morris Agency

As a 7th grader at Frederick Douglass Academy, Carlos co-captained the first middle school lacrosse team ever in Harlem. Carlos went on to be the first HL participant to go to boarding school. He graduated from Peddie School, and later Colby College, where he double majored in Global Studies and Fine and Studio Arts, and played on the men's lacrosse team. Carlos works at William Morris Agency in New York, where he is an Executive Assistant to a Senior Vice President and Associate General Counsel.

Ronda Clark-Richardson - Harlem Lacrosse Alumni Parent

Ronda has been involved with HL nearly as long as Carlos. Her son, Myles Smith, joined the team in middle school, and we worked closely with Ronda to help Myles subsequently earn admission to Cardigan Mountain School, Kent School, and Bates College, where he excelled. Ronda attended Woodmere Academy in Long Island, then the University of Bridgeport, where she played for the Division 1 women's basketball team. After her time at UB, she completed nursing school. Among her career highlights is working as a private nurse for the Prince of Nepal. Ronda also has worked as a Program Director for the NYC Department of Education's Pregnant and Parenting Program, as well as its Teen Fathers Program. She is a delegate parent representative for Central Harlem's Head Start Program.

DeMaurice Smith - NFLPA

DeMaurice is the Executive Director of the National Football League Players Association, a role he has held since 2009. Prior to that, DeMaurice was a partner at two international law firms and an Assistant U.S. Attorney in D.C. DeMaurice has been supporting HL students since 2016, when he first hosted our boys for a tour of the NFLPA offices during a trip to the Capital Region. DeMaurice and his son Alex, a rising senior on the lacrosse team at Maryland, recently joined more than 100 Harlem Lacrosse participants on one of our "Featured Speaker Friday" Zoom calls. DeMaurice is a graduate of (and was the recent Commencement speaker at) UVA Law School and earned his B.A from Cedarville University.
