FDA Boys Take Their Annual Trip to Princeton University

On Wednesday, April 8th, the boys from Frederick Douglass Academy I (FDA) took a trip to Princeton University to see what is like to be a student-athlete at one of the best colleges in America.

The boys first visited the Carl A. Fields Center for Equality and Cultural Understanding where they listened to a forum of Princeton students speak about college life, being away from home, and how they pushed themselves in the classroom.

Princeton Men's Head Lacrosse Coach Chris Bates and two members of the team, Freshman Sam Bonafede and Junior Austin deButts then brought them to the athletic facilities and spoke about what it takes to compete at the highest level of collegiate lacrosse, the importance of balancing academics and sports, and how they have each used lacrosse in order to become better people.

The FDA boys then got the treat of a lifetime when Princeton Assistant Coach Chris Cooper ran a practice for them on the Tigers' Turf.

Thanks to everyone in the Princeton community who continue to push our students to aim high and shoot low!
